Project SummaryProject Summary

Al Atoun Steel Industries is setting up an integrated steel manufacturing facility in the Kingdom , at the Royal Commission of Yanbu for manufacture of steel Billets and rebars to cater primarily to the domestic consumers. The steel manufacturing is through the EAF-LF-CCM route of steel making , with a total capacity of 910,000 Mt. The technology adopted is the latest state of the art facility with flexibility to operate the furnace from 100% scrap to 100% DRI. The plant has also adopted a High speed caster to make billets with a fit in size of 150mm square, and linked to the rolling mill for hot billet charging in RHF. All auxiliary facilities like substation, water treatment , de dusting, oxygen , material handling facility etc is part of the integration.

The steel Billet hot rolling mill from leaders Pomini, has a capacity of 500,000MT for re bars from 8 to 32 mm. rounds from 14 to 70mm, with diversion facilities to manufacture squares from 16 to 70mm, angles from 25 to 55mm, and several other profiles. The Mill is also equipped with thermal quenching of bars and provision for bar coating and welding technology in future.

In the back ward integration plan for the project, it is proposed to have a gas based DRI facility of 1.2 million tons with hot link facility to charge DRI into the melting furnace for steel making, being the best and most economical way to use DRI.

The commercial production of the first phase is to commission in the second quarter of 2013.

The technology to be adopted for the manufacture of all the above is designed to utilize the resources within the country to a great extent there by allowing very economical production and good quality products as per international standards.

The whole emphasis on the production process is towards quality product at optimum costs with consistency in operation and quality.

The plant capacity has been determined based on supporting the Development in the KSA and the plant is slated to use 100% of its produce for internal requirements. The support provided by the government and the local bodies has principally made it morally obligatory for us to serve the local market and ease the imports of steel which is very high presently.

The production line also aims at adopting a multi product range for the customers to have a one window shopping advantage in offering a range of products from a single source.

A technical marketing team would be able to interact with the customers to deliver exactly what the customer desires at minimum wastage and best usage.
